ECDAN Statement and Call to Support

The Early Childhood Action Network (ECDAN) in collaboration with, Africa Early Childhood Network (AFECN), Asia- Pacific Regional Network for Early Childhood Development (ARNEC), Child Fund International, International Step by Step Association (ISSA), NYU Global TIES for Children, and Save the Children developed a statement of solidarity offering their condolences to the families who has lost their loved ones, wishing the injured a speedy recovery, and expressing their gratitude to the dedicated frontline health and humanitarian workers, extending. Being concerned about the short and long term impacts and risks of this catastrophic event on the well-being and development of young children and their families, the movement called the international community, individuals and organizations, to offer emergency support as those efforts can provide a buffer against those risks leading to greater survival rates and better development outcomes. The global movement also stood in solidarity with the Arab Network for Early Childhood Development and supported their 12- month action plan to provide direct humanitarian relief and long-term early childhood development interventions based on a rapid assessment conducted in the aftermath of the blast.
